Things To Do Around Cocoa Beach

Are you planning a visit to Central Florida?  Be sure to include plans for Cocoa Beach car rental options.  When you choose to rent a car, you create the opportunity to visit Central Florida tourist destinations like Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach.  Central Florida, and especially Brevard County on the east coast, offers endless exciting options for fun in the Florida sun!

Extend Your Cruise into a Cheap Florida Vacation

Taking a Cruise is a inexpensive way to vacation.  Larger cruise ships have over 1800 staterooms, hold over 3600 guests, and offer fantastic amenities, such as an onboard water park area (complete with a giant waterslides).  A cruise can be a perfect experience for the whole family.

Cruises will take guests to either the western Caribbean (Cozumel, Isla Roatan, Belize City, and Costa Maya), or eastern Caribbean (Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten).  The seven-day Caribbean cruise adventures are offered year-round.

If you’re looking to extend your vacation, Port Canaveral, FL – home to multiple cruise lines – and the surrounding areas offer endless varieties of fun  -- and cheap -- Florida vacation experiences.  If you do plan to visit the area, be sure to consider renting a car to help keep your travel costs down while at the same time adding convenience and control to your vacation planning.

Though the cruise lines offer shore excursion packages, most of those are expensive and last a minimum of three hours at one spot, meaning you spend a lot of money and only get to visit one attraction.  Renting a car is not only much less expensive, it also offers you the ability to visit Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach at your own pace, going only to those places you find fun and interesting.

When booking your cruise, if you visit the shore excursion page for Port Canaveral, you will see all of the major tourist attractions, like Kennedy Space Center, Walt Disney World, and SeaWorld.  However, Port Canaveral and nearby Cocoa Beach have so much more to offer!  There are miles and miles of beautiful beaches, fantastic local shopping, museums, theater, national chain restaurants, and locally owned and operated dining favorites.

Port Canaveral is conveniently located in the heart of Brevard County, FL, one of Florida’s most beautiful and serene locations.  Brevard County locals feel lucky to be able to live in an area so close to major Florida tourist destinations like Orlando, Daytona, Tampa, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Jacksonville.  Each of these cities is within easy driving distance.  When you rent a car, you give yourself the opportunity to plan a cheap Florida vacation.

For many people, simply visiting these famous Florida tourist destinations is enough to satisfy their Florida travel bug.  For others, the chance to shop, dine and otherwise experience each of these locations is nothing short of a dream come true! However, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune to be able to truly enjoy your Florida vacation experience.

If you’re already spending money on a cruise package, then save yourself additional expense by choosing to rent a car to visit Port Canaveral and the surrounding areas.  You will enjoy the ability to see and do whatever most interests you and your travel companions, as well as being able to appreciate a cheap Florida vacation getaway!

Central Florida is home to fantastic mix of water fun activities!  Whether you prefer the excitement of surfing, the relaxation of laying by a pool, or the thrill of a water park experience, Central Florida has the right water fun activity for everyone.

Water Sport Enthusiasts

Outdoor sporting adventure options are perfect for the water sport enthusiasts out there.  Cocoa Beach offers windsurfing, paddle boarding, sea and river kayaking, parasailing, scuba diving, jet ski and boat rentals, and, of course, surfing (Kelly Slater ring a bell?).

Brevard County offers the opportunity to enjoy water sport activities either beachside or on the somewhat calmer Indian River Lagoon.  There are many locally owned and operated businesses that have years of experience and excellent reputations for providing nothing but the best water sport excursions.

Perhaps your idea of a good time has less to do with hear stopping excitement, and more to do with relaxing on the beach or by a pool?  Brevard County offers fantastic options for both beach and pool lovers.

Brevard County beaches are some of the most beautiful and convenient beaches in Florida.  The miles and miles of available public beach access are almost all free to the public, and many include convenient access to bathhouses, playgrounds, picnic areas, and chair/ umbrella rentals.  Jetty Park, close to Port Canaveral, is a local favorite because of its year round lifeguards and pristine white sand beaches.  If you rent a car, nearby Satellite Beach and Indian Harbor Beach also have beautifully maintained public beach access.

If you prefer the lap pool to lapping waves, then consider visiting Cocoa Beach Country Club’s public swimming pool.  Located close to Port Canaveral in Cocoa Beach just off of Minutemen Causeway, The Community Swimming Pool at Cocoa Beach includes a heated 50 meter pool with diving board, a giant waterslide, a children’s pool with zero entry and shower and spray play, and also a water spray park.  The Aquatic Center is a local favorite spot, and you will see many families enjoying the day poolside.  There is even a snack bar and picnic areas, so you can plan to spend the whole day by the pool.

Maybe your group is a bit diverse – some of you prefer the excitement of water sports, while others prefer to lie in the sun and occasionally take a dip to cool down.  If that’s the case, then Central Florida’s many water park options are ideal.

Just an hour’s drive from Port Canaveral, Orlando is not only home to Mickey Mouse, but also home to many great water parks, too.  If you are planning a Disney getaway, be sure to get tickets for Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.  If your plans don’t include Disney, there are other great water park options as well: Wet ‘n’ Wild, CoCo Key Waterpark, Sea World’s Aquatica, and Discovery Cove.

If you’re up for a little bit of a drive, something easy to do when you choose a Cocoa Beach car rental, an hour to the north of Port Canaveral, there is the exciting Daytona Lagoon Water Park.  Two hours west there is Tampa’s Adventure Island, adjacent to Busch Gardens.

Many times when planning a Florida vacation people focus on what Florida is famous for – Disney, Sea World, Busch Gardens, Daytona speedway – and never realize that there are many, many smaller local attractions that are much more affordable and far less crowded.  These smaller attractions are where the locals like to spend their time and money, and you shouldn’t be missing out on the fun!  Choosing a Cocoa Beach car rental service will give you the ability to travel to each of these great little attractions in and around Brevard County, FL.

  • Space Coast Stadium – Located in Viera, FL, just off of I95, Space Coast Stadium has been bringing our national sport of baseball to Brevard County since 1993.  The facility hosts the Washington Nationals each spring for spring training, as well as playing home to the minor league Brevard County Manatees.
  • Historic Cocoa Village – For those who love to find fun places to shop and dine, Historic Cocoa Village, located very close to Cocoa Beach, is the perfect day excursion option.  There are dining options for everything from sushi to pizza, to fine dining.  Shopping includes kitschy consignment shops to upscale art galleries and more.  There is a fantastic local theater within the heart of Cocoa Village as well as a frequently booked outdoor amphitheater, so you can round out your evening with quality live entertainment.

When you opt for a Cocoa Beach car rental as part of your cruise or Florida vacation planning, you give yourself the chance to visit some wonderful local treats that you wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to check out.

If your Cocoa Beach travel plans include the option for a Cocoa Beach car rental, you will want to be sure to check out some of Brevard County’s fabulous dining experiences.  There is something special for every palate, and almost all of the dining establishments are located close to excellent shopping or nightlife.
